Maeve Kyle OBE

Maeve Kyle has been honoured in the Queen's New Year's honours with an OBE for sevices to athletics. Maeve's life-long dedication to the sport, includes 3 Olympic Games appearances as well as founding this club and building the strong training and excellence ethos that we hold today.

Congratulations Maeve from all at Ballymena & Antrim AC.

AAI Juvenile T&F Print E-mail

7 Golds, 4 Silvers and 2 Bronze was the Ballymena & Antrim medal haul from the Irish Juvenile Track & Field Championships. Leading the way in every sense, Joanna Mills claimed 3 Gold, with a Hurdles double and a Long Jump win. The Hurdles offered further success with Christine McMahon winning her 300m event, and Rebecca McAllister taking Bronze in the 100m variety. McMahon followed up with another Gold in the 800m.

Eimer Black was another distance runner to claim success, easilly winning the 3000m, while the Hannah Todd upheld sprint honours with a Triple Jump Gold and a 100m Silver. Other sprint Silvers were claimed by Deane Adams (100m) and Lauren Bell (400m), while Matthew Teggert took a Long Jump Silver, and Jenna Holmes rounded out the medals with a Shot Putt Bronze.

UK Coach Lifetime Achievement Award Print E-mail
Maeve Kyle was rewarded for her lifetime dedication to UK Athletics when she received recognition from the UK Coaching Awards at the Dorchester Hotel in London. Maeve was honoured with a lifetime achievement award, seeing off the likes of Sir Alex Ferguson in the process.

The book chronicling the life and athletic times of Sean & Maeve Kyle is just about published and ready for distribution. The book will be available through the club for £10. Get your orders in early to ensure delivery for Christmas!

 
BAAC at the Europeans Print E-mail
BAAC athletes were well represented at the recent European Nations Cup. For the men, competing in Slovakia, Paul Brizzel won the 100m in a season's best 10.68 and also anchored the 4x100m team to victory.

In the field, Caolan Flanagan took 6th with a season's best High Jump clearance of 2m00 and Leslie Leung managed a personal best Triple Jump of 13m72 to also claim 6th spot.

The women were in Prague, and Anna Boyle claimed 2nd in the 100m and also helped Ireland claim a new National Record as they took 3rd spot in the 4x100m. Clare Wilkinson also added to the points tally with a personal best in the Pole Vault.
